From Ahmedabad to the National Stage: The Rapid Rise of Trap Shooter Fatin Naeem Tirmizi

At just 26, Ahmedabad’s rising shooting talent Fatin Naeem Tirmizi is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most promising names in Indian trap shooting. In a sport that demands extreme precision, discipline, and mental resilience, Tirmizi’s journey stands out—not only for the speed of his rise but also for the consistency he has demonstrated in a remarkably short span.

Tirmizi began his shooting journey in 2025, inspired by his father, who introduced both him and his brother to the sport. What started as a casual exposure soon turned into a serious pursuit when his brother encouraged him to give shooting a proper try—a decision that would lay the foundation for his competitive career.

Training at the Crowne Shooting Range in Valad, Gandhinagar district, Tirmizi quickly adapted to the technical and mental demands of trap shooting. His early days were marked by determination and a steep learning curve, but he wasted no time in making his presence felt. At the Ahmedabad district championship 2025, he secured multiple medals, signaling the arrival of a promising new competitor.

He carried this momentum into the Gujarat State Championship 2025 , securing multiple medals and podium finishes with strong performances in both trap and double trap events. His ability to deliver consistently across formats highlighted both his versatility and growing command over the sport.

However, it was at the 2025 Perazzi India Cup that Tirmizi truly announced himself on the national stage. Delivering a flawless 25/25 in the finals, he clinched the championship title—becoming the first-ever Perazzi India Cup champion and earning the prestigious Perazzi Hightech shotgun. The achievement not only showcased his technical precision but also his ability to perform under pressure.

Continuing his upward trajectory, Tirmizi competed in the West Zone Championship in Bhopal 2025 , registering a solid 42/50. He followed this with a bronze medal at the India Open Championship2025  in Patiala, a crucial pre-national event that secured his qualification for nationals. By December, he had reached a significant milestone in his career, earning recognition as an ISSF-category shooter, a status reserved for athletes who have competed at the national level.as he competed in Indian Nationals shooting comepetion championship which was from 1st december 2025 to 5th Jan 2026

In 2026, Tirmizi has continued to build on his success. At the Gandhinagar District Championship 2026, he secured a gold medal in double trap and a bronze in trap, further reinforcing his consistency. Most recently, at the Gujarat State Championship 2026, he added two silver medals in trap and double trap to his growing list of achievements. Notably, he was the only shooter in the competition to register a perfect 25/25, underlining his composure and precision.

Looking ahead, Tirmizi’s immediate goal is to qualify for the Indian team trials, a crucial step toward representing the country at the highest level. His long-term ambition is clear—to represent India at the Olympic Games.

With a strong foundation, early support from his family, and a relentless drive to improve, Fatin Naeem Tirmizi embodies the spirit of a modern Indian athlete. As he continues to rise through the ranks, Indian shooting may well have found its next standout star.
